Lexington’s Weather- You Never Know

Growing up in Chicago you’d think I would be use to Kentucky’s cold weather. But the cold still gets to me. As a dog walker I spend a lot of days outside, no matter what the weather is like. These dogs depend on me as do their owners for their exercise. So I’ve had to adjust my wardrobe depending on what Kentucky wants to do in terms of the weather. Here is my outfit for most of January!

Essential is a good pair of snow/winter pants. This keeps the heat in and your legs nice and warm!

Long underwear! Some of these cold days I’ve had to add another pair of pants and a good collection of long underwear is a must!

A good pair of smart touch gloves like these pictured-

Smart touch gloves allow those of us that are glued to their phone the ability to stay warm and stay in touch. I’m always working and these are great!

A good warm hat and in some cases mask to cover more of your face.

Snow boots! You don’t want that snow getting your feet cold because cold meet does not make for a fun walk!

After that it’s layer layer layer! I wear up to 4 shirts at a time plus my coat. I am outside for up to an hour at a time a few times a day. It’s a must to stay warm!

What are your cold weather tips to stay warm?

  1. I’m afraid I don’t have any cold-weather tips. It’s been in the 70s in Austin for the past couple of weeks. But it sounds like you have all you need to weather that challenging weather. Looking forward to hearing more about your canine perambulations.
